When it rains...

As is the case with so many things in life, we are learning that the old adage “An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure” should be applied whenever possible...

When we moved the old shed into place this summer, we also took stock of what repairs or modifications would be required in it’s re-purposing as the goat barn and a new roof was on the list...perhaps not prioritized as high as some of the other jobs, but it was for sure on the list.

Fast forward to the rainy west coast days of October / November and we have a learned an important lesson for the future – whenever “roof” appears on any to-do list...it should automatically be bumped to the top.

I do have to admit, as much as it would have been more prudent to replace the roof in the dry summer days; there sure was something oddly entertaining,,, and even a little satisfying; about quickly installing a temporary tarp over a leaking roof; in the rain; and with the curios interference of the goats and Lorenzo under foot – that being said I think we will employ the “ounce of prevention” way of thinking whenever possible moving forward.
